@JohnSmithVII That’s just one example of corruption—and it isn’t transparent. Neither are the purposes to which the $100m is to be put. And even if it isn’t corrupt, it has the appearance of possible corruption, as if the presidency is for hire or for sale. That’s just not a good look.

Trump's experimental antics are endangering the entire planet, but we non-Americans are powerless to stop him. Countervailing tariffs just get you more of the same. International sanctions? As if. Only Americans and their politicians can stop him. Begging you: ease our pain!

So there’s this, below. There’s open corruption (Trump buys car, Musk gives $100m). There’s the move to criminalize public protest, the collusion with Putin, the abandonment of climate science. All of it. At one point does the rest of the world consider sanctions against the US?

The Economist has started taking shots at Meghan’s TV show. But this story, written by @JoSchneller, is the best and most detailed takedown of them all. https://t.co/dhv3F8yJMW

Susan Glasser's description of Trump's speech nails it: "his by-now-standard mix of braggadocio and self-pity, partisan bile and patently absurd lies.https://t.co/JD1tDbz91U

I admire Mr. Ford's moxie. But he is either going to "buckle down," or he is "not going to buckle." "We aren't going to buckle down" means he is not going to do much of anything serious, which is not what he's trying to say. With apologies for dorkish pedanticism .

Every once in a while the Trump team and its eager band of followers do something that makes me think, oh, maybe instead of being propaganda geniuses they are just imbeciles.

Think about using a 15 year old boy who survived cancer for craven political propaganda.

“The most dominant nation on earth” is what Trump claims he wants to “forge.” That’s the main problem.

Thank god that endless publicity stunt is over.

Pocahontas? Classy, Don. Really classy.

Trump is what happens when an entire nation becomes addicted to television and distraction.

I must be misunderstanding this. He pardons Jan 6 rioters who killed a handful of law enforcement officers, and now he’s calling for an automatic death penalty for people who kill law enforcement officers.

Trump’s just flooding the zone with propaganda.

It is incomprehensible to me that Trump is so insecure, so needful of nothing less than total approval, that he has to stoop to calling out his political opponents even when he has the full gaze of the world on him.
