Transfer as a Junior Pathway (TSAP)

AN AFFORDABLE START TO YOUR BACHELOR'S DEGREE

WHAT IS THE 'TRANSFER AS A JUNIOR' PATHWAY?

The Transfer as a Junior pathway—you might also hear people call it TSAP—is for students who plan to spend two years at Ivy Tech and then transfer to any public Indiana four-year university as a junior. In those two years at Ivy Tech, you can earn an associate degree and then transfer to the four-year institution to pursue a companion bachelor's degree.

WHY IS THIS ALSO CALLED TSAP?

Let's start with some history. In 2013, the Indiana legislature required that state colleges and universities develop a set of Transfer Single Articulation Pathways (TSAP) which allow students to fully transfer certain associate degrees as the first two years of instruction toward a companion bachelor’s degree. Programs with the TSAP designation are based on a curriculum agreed upon across all of the public institutions in Indiana. They enable students to spend two years at IvyTech and then transfer to any public Indiana four-year university as a junior without losing any credits.

A SMARTER START TO YOUR DEGREE

Offering the lowest tuition in the state, Ivy Tech is Indiana's best value in higher education. Students on the Transfer as a Junior pathway who complete their first two years of college at Ivy Tech can save upward of $10,000 on their bachelor's degree. Saving money and graduating with less college debt is indeed a smarter start to your degree.

  • Indiana 4-Year Public Institutions

When you earn an associate degree from Ivy Tech in one of the TSAP degree programs, you can transfer to any Indiana public four-year institution with automatic junior status, as well as many private institutions. Choose from the Indiana colleges and universities listed below.

Do make sure that the four-year university you intend to transfer to offers a bachelor's program in your program of choice. Each of Ivy Tech's four-year institution transfer partners only offer bachelor's degrees in some of the TSAP programs. For example, if you are thinking about earning a TSAP in Computer Science, you will only be able to transfer to the four-year institutions that offer Computer Science.

  • What's the Difference Between TSAP & Guaranteed Admissions?

You may be wondering how our "Transfer as a Junior" pathway—officially known as TSAP (Transfer Single Articulation Pathways)—is different than the Guaranteed Admissions pathway. Here are some ways they are similar, and some ways they are different:

HOW TO GET STARTED

Apply to Ivy Tech

First, confirm that the academic program you're interested in is designated as a TSAP program. Then simply apply to Ivy Tech and you'll soon be on your way to earning your associate degree at Ivy Tech before you transfer to a four-year university to complete your bachelor's degree.

Contact Your Transfer School

Be sure to stay in touch with your Ivy Tech advisor and the academic advising office of the institution you wish to transfer to since required courses can change over time. Changing your plan without speaking with an advisor could result in not completing the program within the two-year time frame required for this process.

APPLY NOW

TRANSFERRING CREDITS IS GUARANTEED, BUT ACCEPTANCE IS NOT

It's important to remember that transfer admission is not guaranteed just by enrolling in a TSAP program. Once you complete your two years at Ivy Tech, you will need to be admitted to the institution you intend to transfer to. TSAP does mean that if you are admitted, your coursework will be accepted with no loss of credits.

If you are interested in securing automatic acceptance, our Guaranteed Admissions pathway may be right for you.

* The Nursing program at Purdue University - West Lafayette does not offer an RN to BSN degree pathway for students and, thus, it is not included in the TSAP (Transfer as a Junior) Nursing program. Students wishing to transfer to Purdue University - West Lafayette Nursing will be considered on a space available basis with all other transfer students and will have 6-8 additional semesters to complete the bachelor’s degree.
